Mr. Bleddyn Pugh – Dirion Stud Ik ben al ruim 45 jaar lid van de Welsh Pony and Cob Society en 3 jaar geleden werd ik tot Ere lid benoemd. Ik heb nooit grote aantallen pony’s in bezit gehad, meestal 2 tot 4 merries en vroeger heb ik veel pony’s en cobs voor andere eigenaren voorgebracht. Een bekende pony welke ik destijds geshowd heb en die in mijn handen de RWAS gewonnen heeft hebben zijn o.a. Skellorn Daylight, Galchog Gallahad voor de Cwmnantgwyn stud en Marken Treasure voor de Tyllwyn stud. Ook heb ik wel cons voorgebracht o.a. Derwen Desert Express, Trevallion Prince Comet, Gurnos Welsh Maid, Trevallion Alys en Dirion Tywysog. Al ruim 20 jaar maak ik deel uit van het WP&CS jurykorps met bevoegdheid voor de A’s, C’s en D’s. Shows waar ik jureerde zijn o.a. de the Royal of England, Cheshire County, The Royal Winter Fair Toronto, Aurora Fair Ontario, N E W P A show New York tweemaal en de American Nationals Tulsa Oklahoma . Ik reis ook regelmatig met een dia show en naast Wales en Engeland was ik te gast in Toronto, New York en ook al eens in Nederland.

Miss Kerry Wainwright - Skellorn Stud De Skellorn Stud is gestart door mijn grootvader, Leslie Wainwright, aan het begin van de zestiger jaren. Hij fokte A’s gebaseerd op Revel, Coed Coch en Fayre bloedlijnen, helaas is hij al overleden voordat de echte successen tot stand kwamen met Skellorn Socks die het Youngstock championship won op de RWAS en Skellorn Daylight die zon’impact gehad heeft op de Crumpwell Stud. Zo’n dertig jaar geleden zijn B’s gaan fokken en uit een vrij grote A merrie werd Skellorn Music Boy van de hengst Baledon Squire gefokt en hij stond aan de basis van onze B fokkerij. Omdat de B’s net dat beetje groter zijn vanwege mijn interesse in het uitbrengen onder het zadel, zijn we dus verder gegaan op Skellorn met B’s. Door ons gefokte B’s hebben op vrijwel alle grote shows door de jaren heen prijzen gewonnen aan de hand maar ook onder het zadel, de bekendere zijn Skellorn Silver Coin, Barbie Doll, Rose Princess en Consort. Het was een bijzonder moment toen we in 2009 op de RWAS met Skellorn Barbie Doll het merrie kampioenschap wonnen nadat ze al eerder op de RWAS kopplaatsen wist te behalen. Ik fok ook Connemara’s en ook die doen het goed aan de hand maar ook onder het zadel; dit is echter een heel nieuw hoofdstuk in onze stoeterij. Bij het jureren let ik op type, het correct zijn en het gangwerk, verder zie ik graag een mooie belijning, een goede en sterke achterhand, een goede schouder en een hoofd wat op de juiste wijze aan de nek zit. Ik heb al op vele regionale shows in de UK mogen jureren maar ook op kwaificatie shows voor Olympia en de HOYS. Verder had ik het geluk uitgenodigd te worden on te jureren in Zuid Afrika, Australië, Amerika en Ierland. Ik heb ook al eens eerder in Nederland gejureerd.

Mr. Meurig Thomas, Cruglwyd stud Ik ben zeer vereerd dit jaar te zijn uitgenodigd als uw jurylid voor de sekties C en D voor de Altena show. Het is een gebeurtenis waar ik me echt op verheug; ik ben er zeker van dat de Cobs die ik te zien zal krijgen en de gastvrijheid geweldig zullen zijn. De basis voor de Cruglwyd stoeterij is gelegd in 1982 met de aankoop van het merrieveulen Llanarth Mefys op de allerlaatste Llanarth Welsh Cobsale. Ze was van Llanarth Flying Comet en uit Llanarth Morfydd, een dochter van een van de Llanarth-stammoeders, Rhosfarch Morwena. Mefys’ eerste veulen was Cruglwyd Morwena ( v. Derwen Replica), ze werd als jaarling tweede op Lampeter show en derde op de Royal Welsh. Vanaf dat moment hadden we de smaak te pakken; het jaar erop werd ze stelde ze ons niet teleur en werd eerste op Lampeter en op diverse andereshows. Zij had ons op de kaart gezet en bleek ook een waardevolle fokmerrie te zijn. Haar meest bekende nakomelingen waren Cruglwyd Calon Lan ( v. Ebbw Victor), tweede op Lampeter als 3-jarige en onze huidige dekhengst; en zijn volle zus Cruglwyd Magdalen, moeder van de driejarige hengst Cruglwyd Guto ( v. Coednewydd Comet) die we op dit moment succesvol showen. In 1991 gingen we op zoek naar een tweede stammoeder, dit werd de jaarlingmerrie Tardebigge Ella; een volle zus van de mooie Royal Welsh kampioene Tardebigge Esther. Ze bleek doorlopend showwinnaars te produceren; de meest succesvolle was Cruglwyd Elin ( v. Derwen Desert Express), zij was als jaarling eerste en Filly Champion op Lampeter show en won de Royal Welsh als driejarige. Elin’s volle zus Cruglwyd Enid was de moeder van Cruglwyd Siriol, ook zij was Filly Champion op Lampeter. Op dat moment waren we hard op zoek naar een goede hengst. Een vriend van mij had Coednewydd Comet gezien op een stoeterijbezoek en raadde me aan daar eens naar te gaan kijken. Comet was toen 18 jaar oud maar leek veel jonger. Na veel overredingskracht heb ik hem kunnen kopen. Hij had waardevolle oude bloedlijnen, zijn vader was Ty’r Capel Comet van Tyhen Comet, en zijn moeder was van Derwen Telynor. In mijn ogen voldeed hij aan het ideaalbeeld van de ware Welsh Cob. Ik was erg trots op het hengstveulen dat Tardebigge Ella van hem produceerde: Cruglwyd Magner, hij werd eerste en Jaarling-kampioen op Lampeter en derde op de Royal Welsh. Dit jaar wordt een andere zoon van hem, de eerder genoemde driejarige Cruglwyd Guto uit Cruglwyd Magdalen geshowd; hij is onze toekomstige hengst en heeft het "oude" Welsh Cobtype wat tegenwoordig zo zelden te vinden is. Coednewydd Comet is onlangs overleden, hij wordt ontzettend gemist en ik weet dat ik nooit meer een vergelijkbare hengst zal vinden. We zijn blij met onze jonge hengst Guto en hebben verder nog negen jonge merries van Comet aangehouden, die allen terugvoeren naar onze stammoeders Morwena en Ella.
